Pics 7/20

Waikiki Beach

I believe that is the Manoa valley between the buildings, where I am headed on Sunday. Looking out the window at the end of my hotel hallway while waiting for the elevator.

Fort DeRussy US Army in Hawaii Museum

Fort DeRussy US Army in Hawaii Museum

Fort De Russy when it first was opened in the early 19th century.

Fort De Russy at the end of WWII (1947) I think. The guns have been removed.

The attempt to destroy the fort in 1970 didn't work out so well. The wrecking ball didn't do much damage. Remember it was meant to withstand naval artillery fire. So instead they decided to save the fort and turn it into a museum.

Fort DeRussy US Army in Hawaii Museum today.

All the red areas were the locations of WWII Army military bases on the island.

Recreated 1970s Vietnam era military bar. Hawaii Five O is playing on the tv

Cobra helicopter on the roof

A 6" Navy Gun recently put back into place. This happened in 2009-2010. I didn't see it the last time I was there.

Looking from the top of Fort De Russy towards Honolulu/Waikiki and the mountains beyond

Lunch: Chicken Katsu Bento Box. Crab claw at the top right, rice under the chicken katsu (think a chicken cutlet) and odd spaghetti in the lower left.

California roll with real crab, not the usual Krab. It will likely be dinner.

Jin Dui, the red bean paste sesame doughnut like items. Yum!
