Aloha everyone and welcome aboard!
So its only slightly more than two weeks before I leave for Hawaii and three weeks before I begin the 2012 East-West Center's Institute on Infusing East-Asia into the Undergraduate Curriculum. This years focus is on China and Japan, while the one in 2010 was on South Asia (i.e. India primarily). I figured it would be time to start a travel blog again. While I won't post daily until I arrive in Hawaii on July 19th, I will make the occasional update before then. Like the 2010 Hawaii Expedition blog, I will have pictures posted as well as information about how my day went and what sort of adventure I can find in Hawaii during my time off from classes.
Hopefully this summer I will manage to make it to one of the other islands, even if it is only for a one day jaunt to see some sights. Maybe I will make it to the Big Island and Volcanoes National Park. I know I will get to see Kona Airport on my return trip, but I'd like to see more of the islands than just Oahu and the city of Honolulu. I did most of the touristy things the last time I was on Hawaii for four weeks in 2010, but there is always more to see and more to do...
Anyway, that's enough for an introduction.
Mahalo,
Matt
